Dear Friend
This September we are restarting our annual trip to Botswana in order to use our various skills, numerous attributes and endless capacity for love to have an unforgettable shared experience with the children of SOS Children's villages. Each year the trip gets better and better as we learn more about how best we can support the orphaned children. Our objective continues to be to help make a difference to the lives of the children, and we aim to do this through under the banner of running a summer camp for 10 days, leaving the UK on the 25th September.
As a volunteer you will have so much to give, more than you might imagine yourself capable of, and you will also learn a lot from the incredibly humble and resilient children you have the privilege to meet.
You may be wondering, “what can I do” or “how can I help”? I believe that everyone has the skills to support this project. Since this project began we have had volunteers from many different backgrounds who have come out to help (Bond Traders, Administrators, Nannies, Builders, Managers, Retirees) with an age range spanning 21 to mid 70’s, and I can honestly say that everyone has made a difference and I have been proud to lead them all.
What sorts of things will you be doing? PV Olympics, Games, arts and crafts, cooking, music, film night, swimming lessons, BBQ, photography workshop and loads more to boot.
The trip is self funded and will cost £1,000. This will include flights to Johannesburg, Car hire and all accommodation. The price is an indicative figure based on current flight prices, and may be slightly less. If you need help in raising funds then please contact us to assist you in any sponsorship event that you may wish to undertake.
As much as we would like to take everyone that applies, this will only be possible if we have enough experienced leaders, and the maximum we can take this year is 16. If you are interested in coming along please email me here for an application pack, which will give you more details. All applications will need to be submitted by 18th April 2013 in order for us to assess the numbers of volunteers that we can take. After the application process, there will be an opportunity for us to meet and for both you and Project Volunteer to learn more about each other before making a final commitment to the trip.
